| What is a polyamide? | polyamide (PA), commonly known as Nylon, is one of the most commonly used engineering plastics, it is a general term for polymers containing amide groups in the main chain repeating units of macromolecules. Nylon is the first synthetic fiber developed in the world. Nylon is the first resin developed for fiber by DuPont company in the United States. It was industrialized in 1939. In the 1945 years after the end of the European war, two of the most expensive things were the cigar and the nylon. Nylon can be drawn into silk-like fibers, widely used as a substitute for silk.
